How to predict future

July 29, 2007

Quoted from a book :

A man was trying to predict the future. That’s how he did :

Find 100 men’s addresses. Send them football matches result. 50 to bet A team wins. Another 50 to bet B team wins. If A team wins, target the 50 people. Send them again the football matches result 25 to say A team wins, 25 to say B team wins. So on and so forth.
That will translate into a person that has 6 correct predictions correct in a row by the man.

Alas, that man can predict now!!! But only to the particular person.

Imagine Cup Finalist

July 24, 2007

I was one of the participant of Imagine Cup Finalist in Algorithm section. The question was so hard that I gave up solving it at the very first week. I thought : No Singapore’s representative would get into final.. But I was wrong. There is a Singapore’s rep…

Suddenly, I have a feeling, feeling that I could do it also. Before that, I didn’t have any confidence.

Why must I know after someone walked it? Can’t I discover myself?

One Event – Three Thinking

July 16, 2007

One day, three persons were walking on street. They saw a spider was crawling on a wall. On that wall there was a wet place. Whenever the spider reached the particular wet spot, he would slide down.

The very same event leads to three type of thinkings.

First.

This spider resembles our life. Everyday, we get to work (or school), go back home, and sleep. A cycle that goes endlessly

Second

Life is not a smooth path. There are particular dark path that we must avoid. If the spider (human) could avoid the wet spot (dark path) then the rest will be easier.

Third

Even a spider has unbeatable spirit. He just tries and tries. Shouldn’t we human have that kind of spirit, too?

I am on Third. You?

How come Superman can stop bullets with his chest but he always ducks when someone throws a gun at him?

Right or Wrong

July 9, 2007

When someone agrees with you, you think you’re correct all the times.

When few disagree with you, you feel you are the most stupid person.

Why is it that when you tell a person that there are 400 billion stars in the sky and he’ll believe you, tell him a bench is wet and he has to touch it?
